I always wanted to perform my job well out of a sense of pride but I rarely felt as if I made a meaningful difference in the lives of people. That desire has never been entirely satiated in my professional life. A longing to make a significant impact in the lives of others has helped to fuel my pursuit of a career in nursing. I feel as if not only can I understand the anguish patients under my care experience during their time in the hospital, because I have experienced it myself many times, but that I can help to relieve their distress by offering compassion, comfort and an experienced perspective. To this day even though I spent a lot of time in the hospital during my youth however I do not have a phobia of hospitals to this day and that is due to the sympathetic and understanding care I received. I want to provide that sense of comfort, confidence, and empathy to those under my care and help aid in the speed of their convalescence.
