In the beginning, to overcome adversity you may have to take risks. Mibs had to take risks in order to see her dad, “I stepped passed Bobbi and her pink gum bubble, and ran my finger along the cool pink steel of the bus, underlining the word Salina in the address, clearing the dust away and leaving a clean gash below the word like I had just sealed the deal.” (65) This shows the risk Mibs took in order to see her father. Mibs also had to have faith that she won't get caught by the cops when having to go back and find Samson, “Lester turn around the bus! B-but… Lester stammered. “Carlenes called the police.” “It doesn't matter, Lester,” Lill assured him resting one hand on his nervous, stuttering shoulder. We’ve got to go back. Lester drove forward another quarter mile before he gave in.” (271) This shows that mibs and her friend had to have Faith to go back and get Samson even no they risked it all to save Samson. Mibs experiences allow her to rely on her friends and family to overcome adversity.
