This article discussed the value and importance of school culture. It started off by mentioning that the presence in a school will allow an individual to determine if a school has a wonderful balance of school culture. For example, if someone walked into a school and everyone was happy, felt important, there was organization and everyone that passed through the hallway showed respect, then it is obvious that the school has a great balance and abundance of school culture. It is stated that in the early 1930s school officials had already discovered the importance of school culture. School culture gives the students and the staff a comfort zone. When the environment and culture come together, everyone feels safe and the school is ran with order. …show more content…
This topic often gets overshadowed by the schools environment and climate. While having a violence, gang and drug free school are wonderful things, that does not necessarily mean that the school's culture is great. Students need to have structure and normal routines. These things must be consistent. In this article, school culture is defined by the vision, values, beliefs and overall flow of the school. The school's culture represents a safe place for learning, leading and making mistakes. In a sense, it is a home away from home for faculty and students. To ensure that a school has established a strong culture, the school must instill strong values and beliefs. They must uphold everyone to the expectations and teach their students and staff the meaning and importance of creating a safe place. A clear vision must be set in place and everyone must be working to achieve the same goal. Together all things are possible. Great visions inspire students to achieve while motivating the students and supporting them. Every aspect of the school is seen as important.
