Starting off, school lunch is bad for a student's health. School lunches are high in calories, sodium, and fat content. Many may believe this is due to school lunches being more monitored for health hazards and around 31.6 million kids being able to receive a school lunch. The author, Barbara Howard states "For many kids, these are the biggest meals they get each day, and they have the most nutrients." While this may be true, many school lunches are almost never healthy. School lunches are almost always high in sodium, calories, and fats, school lunches are also never portioned correctly and are always small. The author states "My reasoning is that it isn't a healthy food and it doesn't keep me energized for the rest of the day." School lunches are supposed to be healthy, right? No, they aren't, most school lunches usually come with a side of fruit, while that may be healthy, the lunch isn't, many kids just throw away the fruit and eat the unhealthy lunch. The lunch also is very small, most kids and even some adults are left tired and still hungry after they eat the school lunch, many require a second serving or maybe a third serving to be full enough to work throughout the rest of the day. Overall, school lunch is an unhealthy and improperly portioned lunch that needs to
