The novel Seedfolks, written by Paul Fleischman, is a novel about a neighborhood garden that is developed. Kim, a nine-year-old girl, decided to plant a few small seeds in a vacant lot. The lot eventually becomes a garden, which helps people overcome their own traumatic experiences. One of this novel's themes, which is present in other texts as well, is that staying true to oneself is better than trying to fit in. One example of the theme statement in Seedfolks is Curtis. At the beginning of the chapter, all he talks about is his muscles and how strong he is. After Lareesha “cut” him “loose”(51) he starts to calm down and he changes into a better, more selfless person. He finds the garden and he tries to grow some tomatoes to win his girlfriend
