What are the effects of self driving cars in the economy and society?

Technology has advanced throughout the years. Every year , minute , or second something new is being created. People are creating machines or objects that could benefit but as time passes people start adding onto that invention with new technology which could later lead to harsh consequences on society. One of the technologies that the world wants every time something new is added to it are the self-driving cars. They want self-driving cars because their easier to travel and in some occasions prevent accidents,but cars can also increase the rates of accidents and allow people to not drive safe. The people that are adding new technology to the cars have half responsibility …show more content…
Throughout the years many people have added new technology onto cars. The first gas powered car was invented in 1893 by the brothers Frank and Charles Duryea. Thirteen copies were made but the company failed and at the end the brothers went their separate ways. In the 1980’s cars became smaller , more fuel efficient , less polluting and much safer. Then after a couple of years Uber came out with their self driving Taxi between 2017 and 2018. Uber added new technology to their cars to make them more efficient and safer for the people. In the History of cars by Chris Woodford he states that , “Part robot, part computer, part old-fashioned automobile[s]...[are] hybrid machines [that] are likely to prove far safer and much more environmentally friendly than cars driven by careless, fallible humans”(Woodford). The author in this quote is trying to show how people that are responsible drivers may be able to handle self driving cars while careless humans which in this case are the people that drive irresponsible are most likely to get into major accidents.
