“It’s sad but true: here in this country, people are being bought, sold, and smuggled like modern-day slaves.” (FBI, n.d.)shows the severity of the situation.
Sex trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, or obtaining human beings for commercial sex act by the use of force, threats, fraud or any sort of pressure. In US if the person involved in the commercial sex is less than 18 years old, is also a victim of sex trafficking even if force is not used to subject them to this act. It is the form of modern day slavery which exists globally. Men, women, children and transgender people can be victim of the sex trafficking. 1. Low Risk: Human traffickers perceive there to be little risk or deterrence to affect their criminal operations. While investigations, prosecutions and penalties have increased throughout recent years, many traffickers still believe the high profit margin to be worth the risk of detection. Factors that add to low risk include: lack of government and law enforcement training, low community awareness, ineffective or unused laws, lack of law enforcement investigation, scarce resources for victim recovery services, and social blaming of victims.
2. If people are willing to pay for sexual services, a market is created which is very much profitable for the sex traffickers. Therefore the exploit the children and adults. It is same as when people rely on an industry for services or goods or both they create profits for the industry even if it is sexual

At the age of 15 she met her boyfriend David who was 31 years old. Alex was not happy in the home and David showed him great affection and love. When he offered her to move in with him she couldn’t wait. In the start she loved living with him but gradually the relation turned violent as David demanded financial assistance from Alex.
