1.1 Identify the different Reasons People Communicate.
People communicate for many different reasons. The main and most important reason is for the exchange of information. If there was no communication we would never know what people were thinking or what they needed. When a child is hungry they use communication to let us know. When we get on a bus we need to use communication to let the driver know our destination. If we were to go for a job interview or educational interview for college we would not be able to let the interviewer know what skills we have or which level of education we think we should undertake. Communication means we can also find out information on disabilities and learn how to help the child and communicate with the child in the correct way. If a child has a problem or needs help communication means they can come and tell us their problem and ask for the help they need. People use communication to build relationships, “when a parent, child, young person or new practitioner joins our setting, the first thing that will happen will be some sort of communication. People use communication to persuade people and create change, many messages are used to persuade people to change their behaviour, beliefs and attitudes. People use communication to share with others and get information from others about many things like people, places, events and personal feelings. The effects of this information will fulfil our need to know about our environment. In order to satisfy our needs we need to relate to others. Good communication will result in a healthy relationship. This sort of communication leads to trust as well as a liking between people. 1.2 Explain how Communication Affects Relationships in the Work Setting.
