I used to hate math. If someone was to tell me in junior high that I was going to college for a degree in mathematics, I would have thought they were crazy. However, entering high school, my math teacher said I was a great student who had firm grasp on the concepts and urged me to take higher level classes. I took my teacher’s advice, and I have taken every math class my school offers. Both my sophomore and senior year, I have taken two math classes consisting of Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra II, Consumer Math, and AP Calculus. Shortly after I was told I had a talent for math, I embraced it and started developing a passion for the subject. That is why one of my goals is to earn a degree in mathematics.

While I am in college, I have a few short term goals for myself. I am from a rural location of southeast Ohio and I feel that there is so much in the world that I want to experience. I want to step out of my comfort zone by joining clubs or organizations and participating more in school life. First and foremost, I want to receive my college education at Muskingum University. I want to go into STEM and obtain my bachelor's degree in mathematics. I want to continuously be on the Dean’s List and be noted for my hard work. Additionally, I would like to participate in research either independently or alongside a professor. After I have received my degree, I want to go into the mathematics field to become an actuary, a person who examines statistics to predict risks for insurance purposes. By this time, I will have had the chance to work as an intern at a well known business. In the past, someone at Muskingum University studying mathematics had an internship with NASA, and it is one of my goals to have such an amazing
