Have you ever wondered if today’s system of electing the President of the United States is fair? This question has been debated by U.S. citizens countless times. In a brief summary, the electoral college is made up of 538 people that represent their state. The elector directly chooses the President and Vice-President, based on the majority of their state’s votes. I, as well as many other people, believe the electoral college should be abolished.

The electoral college gives unfair power to small and swing states. For instance, a voter in Wyoming’s (a less populated state) vote is “worth” more than a voter in California (greater populated state). This is because in states with less people, their vote is greater, has more weight, and influence.
