The Internet is a place for people to share their feelings, for people to relax and watch funny videos, or even look things up for school. Now imagine an Internet where the Government has control over what is on there and they don’t want you to relax or to share your feelings. The government should not be allowed to regulate information because it could take peoples freedom of speech away if they speak out, or they could degrade the Internet websites, and also they take away people chances to make new business.
The government should not be allowed because people have freedom of speech. According to MSNBC (a liberal station) it is a bad idea to do this and even talk about how President Obama was wrong in celebrating the decision. In the article it says that “President Obama celebrated this ruling, which the FCC based on his plan to enforce net neutrality – the idea that Internet providers shouldn’t be allowed to prioritize, throttle, degrade, or block lawful content. But the FCC’s sweeping rules will have unintended consequences for the Internet’s future, potentially hurting the very users net neutrality is supposed to protect”(Radia). In that article he compared the internet to taxi cabs. He said that cabs are regulated by price so that people will have a nice comfortable ride, but it’s not always the case because the driver could charge more if he wanted and also not be nice; so he was thinking that the different internet services could charge more but be slower and the better ones would be super expensive and wouldn’t be very
