Vampires and Zombies
There are many novels and movies that have come out that help us understand zombies and vampires. This essay is written to help you identify that similarities and differences between the two. At first glance you are probably thinking, what do these two things have in common. Well we can start with something so basic that you will be kicking yourself for not thinking of it. That is that they will not age because they are already dead but for them to be able to survive they require sustenance found in human beings. Some differences that they have is that unlike zombie’s who can live during the day or at night vampires cannot step outside into the sunlight lest they die. However, that is where the similarity ends because unlike zombies; vampires have to return to their grave or they will die if caught out in the sunlight. Even though these new vampire books such as “Twilight” portray vampires as being shiny and sparkly when they are in the sun, “His skin, white despite the faint flush from yesterday's hunting trip, literally sparkled, like thousands of tiny diamonds were embedded in the surface.”, we will stick to the true vampires who fill the night with terror. Zombies however can live during the day and night because the sun does not affect them like it does to vampires. Zombies can go days and days without having to rest. They will follow you unless you stop them by decapitating them or burn them alive. So for anyone who has ever said they will sleep when they are dead, might not get the chance if they become zombies.
Both zombies and vampires require living humans to survive and even though it’s a similarity it is also how they differ. Vampires seek out humans for their blood. Zombies on the other hand are hunting down humans for their brains “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.” Without humans neither zombies or vampires would be able to survive for very long.
