Sleep Deprivation In High School

Buzz Buzzz Buzzz! We all hate it, that dreadful alarm clock. The one that indicates it time to wake up and prepare yourself for school only to be tardy or half asleep in your first class. Sleep is the one thing everyone loves, but cannot seem to grasp enough of too make it through the day. I know personally sleep deprivation is one of the reasons I do not try that hard in my first couple of classes, maybe that is why my grade in first block is lower than my others. Grades are something that every kid needs to maintain because colleges will look at them and it will ultimately guide them in their future. It seems that throughout the school year, I only get up later and later pushing my luck with time, because I just want one thing...sleep. I …show more content…
Also, what is more annoying than the teacher asking a question and no one answers? Would it not be amazing if a teacher walked in to his/her class and all the kids were very attentive and was willing to participate more? Starting school later will lower all the stress and the kids will be more happy and focused on what they need to be learning. When the teens participate more their grades will go up higher on test and quizzes because they actually know what they learned and understand it. Also some teachers give a participation grade for the day which seems like an easy 100, but not if your child is too tired to function. Now, most problems people have with pushing back school start time is the parents that have to go to work and will not be able to take their children to school and with the after school activities such as sports or anything that requires after school participation for more than an hour. The solution is that we change the bus schedule and make it more flexible for those who need it and for the teens who play sports the coaches should allow a thirty minute study halls so students will have the ability to get their homework done so when they get home all they will have to do is
