My small hometown in Michigan contains hundreds of verdant forests scattered along the border of Lake Huron. My family’s house sits right behind one of the vast forests, and it is appropriately named after my last name: Smith Forest. Although Smith Forest is not the official name, I always refer to it as that due to its enormous influential impact. Each time I enter the forest, I feel perfectly content. My father introduced me to the forest when I was just a little baby. It’s almost as if he knew I would cherish the forest for eternity. Every summer my father and I bond together in Smith Forest. Whether it be camping, building forts, or just plain walking through, we always love the experience. Smith Forest has opened up a whole new world to me. Full of vegetation with deer trails running through the dense forest, it is breathtakingly beautiful. The forest takes me to a fantasy land with vines running down the trees and hanging over the trails, beaming rays of light shining through the top of the trees, and wild life dispersed throughout the entire land. However, the most important factor about the forest is the powerful life lessons I learn each time I travel into the woodland. For instance, whenever one of my pets perishes, my father and I will go into the forest and bury the pet, honoring him greatly. While this seems unpleasant, Smith …show more content…
My father and I will challenge ourselves while camping, using traditional strategies such as making fire with only sticks and dry grass. The forest allows me to experience life centuries ago.
