A study shows many social and health issues in adulthood can be linked to being bullied as a teen. In Castillo’s article, “Childhood Bullying may lead to Social and Health Issues in Adulthood”, it is stated, “Being bullied as a youth [is] linked to more struggles to hold a regular job” (Castillo). Jobs often determine social standings, so when one cannot hold a regular job it reflects poorly on themselves. Relationships are an immense component of people’s social lives and studies in Psychological sciences have linked poor social relationships with having been bullied. Having a poor relationship with someone can lead to having more social problems such as discrimination, poverty, and unemployment. Another Social problem that bullying attributes to is mental health issues such as: depressions, anxiety, increased feelings of loneliness, loss of interest in their old passions. Often siblings are seen as a someone that a victim of bullying can trust and ask for advice from. However, studies show that people who have been bullied by their siblings or other family members will have more mental problems that those who were bullied by their peers. The social and health problems that a victim of bullying faces are one of the countless struggles that victims of bullying must face.
