The social behavioral perspective is when an individual learns how to behave based on how they interact within their environment and it has 3 major theories that describe behavioral learning differently; classical conditioning theory, operant conditioning theory, and cognitive social learning theory. This perspective is a realistic perspective that I feel an abundant of people could relate to. I know from self-growth that I learned how to behave just because of my environment
I feel that my personal values fit most in the social behavioral perspective because growing up I always behaved by how people around me did or how my sister did. I always wore clothes like she did and I always said the same things or did the same activities as my friends. When I entered high school, I finally started behaving how I was expected to behave and how I thought believed I should. I always did my homework and studied hard so I could get into a good college and better myself. Each theory within the social behavioral theory interprets how learning occurs differently. When in the social work field, this perspective would arise a lot with clients, for example, who would act up and become criminals and go to jail. For instance, if I was to work inside the correctional offices for young adults and I received a client who was strung out on drugs badly, I would safely guess that he learned that through the behaviors of gangs or friends that did the same things. As a social worker, I could help get him into programs that could help rehabilitate him and learn through the operant conditioning theory that would give him positive reinforcements of staying clean and away from all the negative consequences drugs lead
