The name of the play I went to see is Some of These Days by Dr. Natalie Gaupp. Most of the story takes place in Florida, around 1988 (I remember because the radio said Barry Sanders won the Heisman). Throughout the play, we go back in time, and follow jazz trombonist Courtenay Dees while he makes music and battles his demons. From conflicts with racism to losing the love of his life, Courtenay ends up almost a shell of himself, but ends up reconciling with his past. Some of These Days was an excellent play that featured a fantastic performance by the thespians, exceptional writing, engaging spectacle, and the spirited atmosphere at the venue, all converging to form a masterpiece of modern American theatre.
