Your spiritual growth plan should begin with your understanding of the role of the Holy Spirit in your growth and your role in your spiritual growth.
The role of the Holy Spirit’s transformative power in my spiritual growth is to keep my flesh (carnal man) under the control of my inward man (Spirit). The Apostle Paul stated it this way, when he said, “For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. These are the three-character traits of the “Fruit of the Spirit” I lack the most. I believe that my lack of self-control, affects my forbearance and meekness, directly and indirectly. Plato stated, “The first and best victory is to conquer self; to be conquered by self is, of all things the most shameful and vile.” I believe this quote speaks volumes to how the lack of self-control can touch, tarnish, and possibly destroy its surroundings. My lack of meekness and patience tends to make me act or react without considering the whole of a matter. Therefore, I do not allow the Spirit to direct me in the matter. I often find myself handling situations in an abrupt and harsh manner. When I handle situations in a way that does not honor God, and dis-honor others, it is time wasted. The kingdom of God is not revealed, in my body and spirit. This valuable time could and should be used to establish new kingdom relationships and make new disciples of Christ. Instead, it is used to repent, seek forgiveness, and re-establish relationships. Relationships, that if not healed, leads to bitterness and strive. I will “Read and Meditate” seeking God’s word daily for instruction and guidance. “Profess and Practice,” I will profess Paul’s words, “According as his divine power hath given unto us (me) all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us (me) to glory and virtue (2 Peter 1:3, KJV), and I will Practice my profession, by living out what I say!
4. Explain how developing this fruit of the Spirit in your life will affect your ethics in God's kingdom
Developing meekness, self-control, and patience in my life will affect my integrity in God’s Kingdom, by allowing me to consistently show Christ. This means that the people I encounter, will not see the law of my flesh (sin) in me. instead, they will see the law of the spirit (God). God’s spirit that works for me to produce good works. Good works of faithfulness, patience, meekness, goodness, self-control, kindness, joy, peace, and love. It will allow me to focus on ministering to others, build up the body of Christ, and live in common communion with others. Leading a life that is constructive and productive in family and
