The Star of David is also known as the Magen David and the Shield of David. The Star of David is most commonly associated with Judaism and is supposed to represent the shape of King David’s shield or at least the emblem that was on his shield. The symbol was first mentioned in the middle ages. It was so rare to find the Star of David in early Jewish artwork, that when art dealers did see it they would think the art was a forgery. Research suggests that there is theological significance to the Star of David and there are different thoughts and opinions about the Star of David.
