Nurses and Substance Abuse Substance abuse is a serious problem, worldwide. When one talks about substance abuse they do not typically think of nurses. People often times do not understand how nurses could be substance abusers. As future health care members it is our job to help those people understand the dangers of substance abuse in regards to nurses.
Substance Abuse among Nurses In the articles Substance Abuse among Nurses and The Impaired Nurse: Would you know what to do if you suspected substance abuse, we focus on an issue that past, present and future health care members should not only must be aware of, but should help raise awareness of as well. As both article titles state, we are focusing on substance abuse among Nurses. These two articles focus on nurses who are abusing substances before, after and must importantly during work. These two articles focus on how nurses gain access to medications and abuse those medications, what signs and symptoms to look out for if substance abuse is suspected and what to do as a health care member if you suspect someone is abusing substances. Substance abuse causes many difficulties in mind and body function. Two important things nurses need in order to care for patients.
