After reading this week's assigned reading and watching an episode of “I am Jazz” I was very moved and educated in a world I was very unfamiliar with. Personally, I have never known someone who is making a transition or has transitioned from one gender to another gender. However, I have encountered a few people who were making the transition in my life. When I spoke to them momentarily I felt horrible that someone would have to go through several treatments, and surgeries to achieve the gender they desire. In addition to all the treatment, they go through they could also face life threating encounters because many people in society do not believe transitioning is normal and attack people who transition. After watching how Jazz knew from the very beginning she was a girl it made me realize that several children are born in the wrong body. A lot of people believe people cannot be born in a different body and people are truly just doing it for a show. However, many people like Jazz have known from the very beginning they were meant to be a different gender. Lucky Jazz was raised in a loving and supportive environment and her parents encourage this transition. Unfortunately, that is not always the case and people who want to transition do not have family and friends who support transgenders and therefore never transition or wait till they are much older. One prime example is Caitlyn Jenner since she had feelings of wanting to transition but due to the backlash, other people were receiving when they transitioned she waited till later on.
