During Enrique’s journey, he expected to go through a lot of troubles. He expected to get treated badly, because he was an immigrant and several towns did not appreciate immigrants. Several acts of kindness stood out to me while reading over this book. Two acts of kindness stood out the most to me. When Enrique is in a town known to hate immigrants, call Chiapas he is looking for food. “To migrants, begging in Chiapas is like walking up to a loaded gun.” Enrique, is starving and decides to beg a family for food. He approach a house and asks for tacos and water. The woman inside gives him food and water, and also asks about his injuries. Not only did she feed Enrique, she feed his migrant friend as well that was with him.
