There are nearly 240 million kids globally who are crippled and cannot care for themselves. This most often leads to disease, hospitalization, or in extreme cases death. A similar situation happens in “The Scarlet Ibis” by James Hurst, where the crippled brother couldn’t care for himself. The older brother is responsible for Doodle's death because Doodle is crippled and cannot take care for himself. One reason is that the older brother admits he is embarrassed about Doodle’s disability. Doodle is the Narrator's little brother. Doodle is crippled and cannot
