At the age of six Kim joined Mountain High snowboarding team and competed at such a young a age. Then at the age of eight years old she went to go live with her aunt in Switzerland where her love for the sport increased. It was not till the age of eleven years old that Kim was truly recognized. She did many sponsorships with brands like Nike, Toyota, Visa, Samsung, and ect. Kim now works as an athlete for the US Olympic snowboarding team. Kim had many accomplishments both before and after joining the olympic team. In 2015 Kim won gold at the X Games.In 2016 Kim earned two more gold medals (one at the X Games is Aspen, and the other in Oslo). She also participated in the Youth Olympic Games where she won halfpipe and slopestyle snowboarding gold medals. Lastly, at the 2018 Olympics she was the youngest female to win an Olympic gold
