They push it open, and the ad ends with, “The will to succeed is always welcome here.” The journey of the mother and daughter was a demonstration of the human spirit, grit, determination and hard work. These characteristics however represent what makes 84 Lumber and our country great. The commercial seems to want people to embody those characteristics, no matter where you’re from. The company is trying to open their business to everyone and not just certain people. Maggie Hardy Magerko, owner and president of 84 Lumber, created a commercial that doesn’t only show their product, but then she went and gave the ad a political theme. However, not just any political theme. It’s about immigration, at a time when the issue couldn’t be more divisive. I believe that the ad intended to make a "patriotic" statement and aimed to make the company a household name throughout the country as it expands and opens more stores in the US. The message behind this ad is the expansion of where their company will go and who they will target. Their ad wasn’t supposed to attack our
