I’m not much of a football fan, probably won’t ever be. Well on the 5th of February it was the super bowl weekend, the most celebrated Sunday of all time. This is the time when all football fans come together and throw a huge party with tons of food, beer, and let’s not forget the giant television they buy to watch the game. (the ones that couldn’t make it Houston anyway) Every year I would simply ignore the big announcements and sales when it’s the super bowl; But this weekend it was different for me. I looked through it and noticed the violence, harm, and terror it causes every year. What stood out to me was that I found out the super bowl is the busiest day for human trafficking. I really wouldn’t have correlated the game and human trafficking ever. After doing more research I was horrified with what I found; not just because I find prostitution repugnant. Human trafficking is illegally transporting people from one country to another for sexual exploitation. In this case the super bowl is the single largest human trafficking incident in the U.S. alone. Pimps, handler, etc. come in during the super bowl weekend in turns of a big payout. The super bowl for many years has had problems with human trafficking.
