A superfund site is an area that has been contaminated by hazardous waste which causes harm to the environment and human health. Most superfund sites are labeled to be cleaned up because of its potential or existent harm. Superfund sites are created by toxic waste being dumped, contaminating the area. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is responsible for cleaning up and monitoring these areas of contamination. The Environmental Protection Agency is funded by the federal government and they work towards protecting human health. You can get a list of superfund sites online at EPA.gov.
