A student counselor can use techniques to assess his own work by developing measures that make them more competent, and implement corrections to their own work first. Knowing not to answer your clients with questions and letting them speak more before presenting an issue may not come naturally at first. Once you are taught to recognize when to allow clients to speak then you may benefit by having the ability to identify times when a more reserved approach can benefit a client. In each article the main problem is that supervisors are advising, influencing, and receiving feed back in environments that have barriers. Langue is a barrier when speaking to clients that are from another country and may not feel comfortable with persons interested in gaining information about their family.
