The founder of Myer, Sidney Myer was known as retail visionary, he arrived in Melbourne in 1899 as a Russian migrant. During his lifetime he achieved great business success but also became well known, respected and fashionable as a leading philanthropist.
Sidney Myer and his brother started of by opening their first Myer store in 1900 in Bendigo to now about a century later Myer is now an Australian public company that produces it revenue through the venture of department stores located in Australia. Myer is also listed as MYR on the ASX (Australian Stock Exchange) with a head-department in Docklands Melbourne.
