The word tattoo comes from the Tahitian “tatu” which means to mark something. It is also arguably claimed that tattooing has existed since twelve thousand years BC. In Borneo, women tattooed their symbols on their arms indicating their particular skill. Also in recorded history, the earliest tattoos can be found in Egypt during the time of the construction of the Great Pyramids. A tattoo, whether it's a picture, a symbol, or a name; it’s a way of proclaiming solidarity with one’s family, homeland, a religion, a favorite sports team, or even a gang.
Since ancient times, many cultures have used tattoos as a way of ensuring good health and good luck, which is called; “Talisman Tattoos.” Some people decide to get a particular tattoo because it makes a statement about how they feel about themselves or how they want others to view them. In ancient Rome tattoos were used to mark human property and to punish those accused of wrongdoing.
