“In August, six months after the United States Supreme Court agreed to consider the constitutionality of the juvenile death penalty,Robert Acuna, a high school student from Baytown,Texas...was put on trial for his life.”(Liptak P1) Imagine telling this bad news to a teenager, that his life is about to be taking and he will no longer exist in this world and have a life. Everybody should pay for their mistakes no matter the age, if someone takes someone else’s life, there life should also be taken or be punished harshly for such horrendous act. I agree that teenagers should be tried and sentenced as an adult for being accused of violent crimes because nobody’s life should be taken away, maturity level shouldn’t be an excuse for not being executed or be punished less harshly than the adults. …show more content…
Because of his ignorant demeanor, the judge saw he didn’t have any remorse none of the less scarred for his life. He laughed at inappropriate times and was being disrespectful in the court. The judge sentence him to the death penalty because of not showing any feelings or apologizing. Even though Acuna was 17 years old, he did have some kind of knowledge of what he was doing and therefore he deserved to get the death penalty because nobody has the right to take the life of someone else and then laugh about it and be disrespectful towards the grieving
