The marijuana sold in medical shops is called cannabis sativa, while the one sold on the streets is often cannabis indicia. Studies show that indicia use can cause many problems. For example it causes anxiety, unclear thinking, paranoia and lack of motivation. Sativa however, has been shown to uplift the mind, make the user more creative, and put the user in a very relaxed state. Marijuana dealers on the street mostly sell indicia because it is cheaper to produce. If it is legalized however, then people don’t have to buy indicia off the street and they will not harm themselves more. In fact, among those who reported they have tried marijuana in the past year, 47 percent said their use was recreational, while a significant 30 percent said it was solely for medical reasons.
