Aside from the obvious social implications brought forth from the Cold War, there were also economic effects as well. During World War II, The United States became a high production, high savings economy. Producing at a higher rate than its enemies is what allowed to United States to keep such a strong economy during this time. However, during the start of the Cold War the United States shifted its economy to a low savings, high consumption economy. (Dugger) The reason for this shift is because the United States wanted to show support for its allies and help them to recover from post-war stress.
After the start of the Cold War in 1947, the United States enforced what was known as Containment towards the USSR. Basically, the US wanted to prevent
