School uniforms are a controversy that occurs all over the world. They are pieces of clothing that everyone would have, worn to school. School uniforms are not beneficial or a good idea to have. They have many downsides. School uniforms don’t showcase personality while students wearing their own outfits will teach them decision making. Alongside of that, Buying uniforms means parents have to spend more money on useless clothing. Uniforms can make school comfortable as kids react to certain clothing and materials and everyday we would have to find and wash and wear the same clothing. The first thing that should be talked about is how school uniforms don’t show how unique everyone is. Everyday students would have to wear the same thing as each other. Kids and teens all have a personality and they should be able to show it off, not contain it in a pair of Khaki’s. “The First Amendment of the US Constitution guarantees that all individuals have the right to express themselves freely” (procon.org). If everyone thinks things in life will just be handed to them or set out for them (uniforms) then how will us students make decisions later? This means they have to be washed every night, found every morning and worn everyday. Parents and teens will stress washing them all the time. It is way too expensive to have a uniform for every day of the week. Because uniforms are school rules and mandatory, if something happened to them or maybe the students lose them, the students can be suspended, sent home or will lose class time to find new clothing.
