The interesting component to the clip, The Crucible behind the Scenes is that during the performance, the background conversation highlighted the historical background of the play. The play was set in a time period of Witch Craft in 1692, where the Salem witch trials was commonly referred to during this era (Steppenwolf Theatre Company, n.d). As a viewer of the clip, it was interesting to see how the actors displayed emotion drawing the potential audience into the willing suspension of disbelief. “The play reveals the duplicity of the girls yet makes their pretended possession seem real to the adult characters and moves the audience as well” ( Wainscott & Fletcher, 2012)
