The Crucible is a story of people from religion background that think of witch craft to be taking place in Salem, the Salem tragedy developed a theocracy, a combined state and religious power. The witch-hunt was a perverse manifestation of the panic which was among all classes, when the balance began to turn toward grater individual freedom. Some of the characters in this story are Parris, Mrs. Putnam, Putnam, Abigail, Mercy, Mary Warren, Betty, Proctor, Rebecca, Giles, Hale, Tituba, and Betty.
Betty a young women is under a spell by Tituba, Betty begins to react unnatural as the lords name is mentioned, Rebecca is being accused of being a witch and casting a spell on Betty, Mrs. Putnam’s children are killed and are said to be done by a witch.
Court is taken place as Betty is incautious and unable to speak, Tituba is being accused of doing witch craft and sentenced to be killed or she’s to repent and turn to god, she then goes on her knees and calls to the lord and believes, she says that witch craft was done by men and women of Salem community, as she calls to the lord Betty then begins to speak and is relieved, both Betty and Abigail …show more content…
Elizabeth gets taken to court Proctor told Mary that she needs to testify to the judge that the puppet was hers and that she should take blame for Abigail’s murder.
Elizabeth, Mary and other women are being condemned for doing witch craft, Rebecca says she is pregnant and Danforth assumes she is lying, Proctor says she will never lie. Proctor and Parris dislike each other. Proctor refuses to say anymore names he will not since they got Rebecca arrested. Mary Warren gets spoken to by Danforth, Danforth asks her if she is being treated or if she is being a liar, she says she is with good and does not lie any longer. Mary Warren, Abigail, are all being tried and being questioned in court, Parris and Proctor are being witnesses for seeing these women in the woods
