not too long ago our society was not dependent on electricity and electronics. Children did want to sit and watch television all day long. Parents didn't have a television to distract their kids and keep them from being outside or even active. It wasn't all but 10 years ago when i was in elementary school. I never sat in front of the TV or played video games or even played games on my phone for hours. Instead i was ousted riding my bike or scooter climbing up trees. I was fortunate enough to even have animals to play with and it taught me many lessons i still use today. That is not so much the case anymore today. Thats why i took a interest in article Television: The Plug- In drug by Marie Winn. She states " Not much more than fifty years after the introduction of television into American society, the medium has becomes deeply ingrained in daily life that in the many states the TV set has attained the rank of legal necessity" ( Models for writers P. 483). I feel that everyone can learn a lot form this statement. Why has our society as the US become so dependent on television? its become somewhat of a main entertainment source in my eyes for todays society. What an effect such a small source of entertainment has become today.
