I recently saw the movie The Dead and The Gone and to be absolutely honest, it was one of the best movies I have ever seen. It is an enthralling and intense film about the struggles that a teenager and his two little sisters have to go through when an apocalyptic disaster attacks New York City. They have to learn how to survive without an abundant amount of food and with harsh weather conditions.
New individuals were introduced in this traumatic film. I think the casting director made good decisions on whom to cast for this movie. The way that the actors portrayed the personality and attitude of the character was amazingly precise to the book. Plus, the actors had the same physical characteristics as the characters they played. The setting was also very similar to how I imagined it. The director made sure to look at every detail of the apartment and the schools. The film really highlights the fact that it takes place in New York City by showing landmarks, and buildings. I think the director did an incredible job of emphasizing the importance of the setting and how it affected the main characters.

During the eerie and haunting scenes, the lighting corresponded to the feeling it was trying to give to the audience. The scenes that were meant to be more uplifting had brighter lighting. Each shot showed something important or something related to the main theme. The extreme wide shots of the towns being swallowed by the ocean and the volcanoes erupting were astonishing and looked very genuine. The close up shots of fallen people really gave me chills but that is the mood that the director was trying to create. Not to mention, the director is very good at using a variety of angles and camera moves. The editing was smooth and none of the cuts were inconsistent. All in all, the cinematography was
