Birds twittered as they flew over a small meadow. Eying the ground below for juicy worms they would dive down ever so often to catch an unlucky one. As they went about gobbling down their breakfast they became agitated, when from the tree line nearby, a sleek doe stepped out from among the bushes. The doe looked right and then left before gracefully walking over to the bubbling stream that made its way through the lush green meadow. Her nose twitched as she followed the smell of water while her ears rotated and her eyes darted around the clearing, searching for any signs of threat. By the time we get there most of the damage will already been done. I don’t think there’s much we can do to help the villagers out,” Destiny’s thoughts rushed though Sam’s mind as she tried to make her rider see some sense. “There’s still hope,” Sam replied determinedly. There had been no one there to help her village out in its time of need; she would not let it be the same case for this one. “We have to do something!” She added, her eyes turning back to where the smoke was coming from. They were getting closer. “Sam, please,” Destiny pleaded.
“Enough, we are going to help,” Sam replied firmly, closing the matter. Although dragons and riders worked as one, it was the rider who had the ultimate say. The bond a dragon has with a rider was different from that, which a rider has with his dragon. While both dragon and rider would willingly lay down their life for the other, a dragon was bound to his rider’s decisions. Ultimately, it was the rider who could control his dragon’s
