In the monograph The Glass Castle, the central conflict is the parents inability to properly provide for their children. This seems to be an internal conflict as the parents' beliefs root from their childhood. For example, the mom rules are the opposite of her mothers rules when she was a child, such as forcing discipline. Multiple traumatic events contribute to the rising violence and manipulation that constantly involved people in every situation they face. The climax usually occurs when the family is faced with conflict; they have the habit to avoid it by running away from the adversity they are faced with. Most of the conflicts do not get resolved, such as being in debt and crimes they have committed. Conflicts affect characterization as
