Jack a tall, skinny, redhead a demanding character in the Lord of the Flies he always wants everything his way and if he doesn’t he throws a fit. When analyzing Lord of the Flies through a “Freudian” lens, one can associate Jack with the id. The id is the primitive component of personality this is the work of the unconscious mind the desire of wanting something immediate. “ The madness came into his eyes again. ’I thought, might kill ” (Golding 51). When analyzing Lord of the Flies through a “Freudian” lens, one can associate Ralph with the ego. The ego is developed by the id, the ego makes sure that the desires of the id are content being the work of the conscious mind. “ We’re in an island we've been on the mountain top and seen water all around. We saw no houses, no smoke, no footprints, no boats, no people. Were are on uninhabited, island with on other people on ” (Golding 32). This is an example of Ralph being the ego because he’s being realistic about the situation they’re on now he’s stating the real facts before, he would go on about that his father (a sailor in the Navy) would come and save him in no time but now he sees that's not going to happen anytime
