The first change she goes through is at the beginning of the story at the Street of Martyrs. She has nothing to look forward to in her life except her fantasies of riches and wealth. She believes only this will make her happy. She marries a clerk and he does everything he can to make her happy. She still wants more.
The next change is at the Dinner Party Scene. Mrs. Loisel’s husband manages to acquire an invitation to the party of Mrs. Loisel’s dreams. Instead of being happy she becomes upset because she has nothing to wear to the party. She ends up borrowing a supposed diamond necklace from a friend and wears it during the party. She is the happiest she had ever been in her life. At the end of this scene she loses the necklace. Instead of confessing to the friend she borrowed the necklace
