The importance of foster parent training is well established. It has been demonstrated that foster parents who receive any form of pre-service training were likely to maintain placement stability compared to those without any formal pre-service training (Cooley, M. & Petren, 2011; Font, 2014). Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) has a number of approved pre-service foster parent training curriculums.
