Many felt that jazz was created in the 1920s but this statement is not correct ¨Jazz wasn't born on a particular day, it was created over a period of time. It wasn't just one person or one race that was responsible for creating it. It was a meeting, and mixing, of the essences and emotions of many people, of many cultures.¨ The artists of jazz had to undergo torment and humiliation when they went to perform. Jazz was seen as immoral and therefore if anyone was caught playing or with it they were often punished. Jazz challenged the traditional ways and came up with new ones.
