Stockton makes a point that power can be missed used for someone’s own selfish gain. The author creates a conflict in the charter of the princess when she has to choose her lovers fate of marriage to an other woman or death, the author stated “Would it not be better for him to die at once, and go wait for her in the blessed regions…” (Stockton 144). Stockton lets the reader choose which door the princess chose for her lover, this quote the significance of the power that the princess had in her hand, but if the princess truly loved her lover she would of let him lived no matter how much it would hurt her, its not her life to choose if he should live or die, she should of just let him pick for himself or at least concerted what he would of wanted. In the poem “Ozymodias” Percy B. Shelley coveys that power doesn’t last forever. The traveler only sees “Nothing besides remains. Round the decay/ of that colossal wreck, boundless and bear/The lone and level sands stretch far away” (Shelley 12-14). This shows that the traveler didn’t see anything that the pharaoh left behind. The king thought himself as the greatest of all, as he said “…king of all kings:/” (Shelley 10), its ironic because the king thought he was the best but over all the years people didn’t care or maybe didn’t even know who he
