Anyone reading The Lightning Thief knows that Rick Riordan tells a story of a powerful, unpredictable, and loyal hero. As the book proceeds he becomes an accomplished leader who grows more confident and brave. There is also a deep growing mythology of gods that the story is rooted in, that allows the reader to follow the hero on his journey. After getting in trouble yet another mythological monster, Percy Jackson is taken to Camp Half-Blood, where he learns the truth to his life; that his is a demigod, half-human, half immortal. Soon after a message from the Oracle, sends Percy on his first quest with loyal allies Annabeth and Grover, to prevent war among the gods of olympus. This is during his time prior to his call to adventure. Percy's childhood was often plagued with danger. Many strange things frequently happened around Percy, often getting him into trouble, which usually got him kicked out of school. Soon after, when on a school trip, Percy would learn the truth, to all his trouble. Discovering his teacher to be a Fury, Percy with the help of Chiron his wise advisor, will kill the Fury with the magical sword Riptide. Percy will then step into the unknown world at Camp Half-Blood, and receive his call to adventure on a quest to retrieve Zeus Lightning
