What is Martial Law? I research three cite that stated what does the martial law really means. First, according to West's Encyclopedia of American Law, Martial law is an extreme and rare measure used to control society during war or periods of civil unrest or chaos. That according to the Supreme Court, the term martial law carries no precise meaning (Duncan v. Kahanamoku, 327 U.S. 304, 66 S. Ct. 606, 90 L. Ed. 688 [1946]). However, most declarations of martial law have some common features. We all know that the martial law is a military force that the military has the authority to do whatever they want to do. They have an authority to make and enforce civil and criminal law. Certain civil liberties may be suspended, such as the right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures, freedom of association, and freedom of movement. In addition, it allows persons who are unlawfully imprisoned to gain freedom through a court proceeding. Therefore, that martial law is a military authority.

Martial law can be used by governments to enforce their rule over the public. We all know that wikipedia is not a reliable source because anyone can edit this site. However, it can be also helpful to us because sometimes it has a thought. So according to this cite, martial law is also a form of military law.
