Odysseus and his soldiers had landed on a strange island where Poseidon made there boat travel to. Him and soldiers had figured out that they had landed on a island full of cyclops. Odysseus’ curiosity got the better him and wanted to see a Cyclops in his own eyes knowing that would be risky and could cost the lives of his men. Odysseus then told his men to go in a the cyclops cave and wait for the beast to come back while eating the one eyed beast’s cheese. After finally meeting the cyclops named Polyphemus Odysseus made it worse by talking about Polyphemus’ father(Poseidon) in a rude manner. King of Ithaca made it even worse than before by insulting Polyphemus while they were fleeing on the ship. Then the beast threw the tip of the mountain at the ship almost sinking it. This made Poseidon even more angry than before making the journey back to Ithaca far longer than it had to be. The third and last un-heroic thing King Odysseus had done was to let his soldiers believe that they were going to live even though he seen the future. Odysseus did not tell his soldiers about how Scylla would kill six of them that were on ship. Odysseus didn't try to help even after knowing he just watch and let Scylla take and devour six men. Odysseus Also let Charybdis eat some of him to. He should of told the whole truth that was un-heroic. Odysseus the main character aka the hero of this story is really not a hero. Shown from the journey Odysseus had choices he could made decisions that could of save most of his soldiers instead of letting them all die. These three examples show the real man odysseus
