If you’ve ever had a friend who’s ever ended up in jail, or in a bad place, then you would deeply understand the true novel of The Other Wes Moore. This novel is about the two lives of boys living in Baltimore. They have a similar childhood up until a single point, and that’s where the two lives change completely. One for the better, and one for the worse. This will show you the many similarities between their mothers and choices described in The Other Wes Moore. The author Wes Moore’s mother was quite similar to the other Wes Moore’s mother. “No, mommy loves you, like I love you, she just wants you to do the right thing.” (11) This is an example of their mother’s love for them no matter what. Both of the mothers love their sons deeply no matter what mistakes they make and want them to do the right thing. However, there is a big difference between them, not their love for their sons, but how they parent. “Their mom was usually out of the house by 8:30 and didn’t come back until well into the evening.” (26) The author Wes’s mother had to break down the law onto him and punished him. To summarize, the author’s mother was involved and deeply concerned for her son and his future, the other Wes Moore’s mother wasn’t concerned for him and was in a long state of denial. When making choices, the author had quickly realized if he didn’t get on the right path soon his fate would be for the worse. The other Wes Moore knew he should’ve made changes, but he never took the initiative to make changes. So when you have a friend who is headed down the wrong path, you should definitely warn them of the consequences that will evidently
