Introduction: "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hilton is about the rivalry between two different gangs, the Greasers and the Socs. Two friends from Greasers Ponyboy and Johnny killed a Soc and got into trouble. The boys became heroes after risking their lives to save kids from a burning church. Later on in the story Johnny dies in the hospital, because of a burning piece of wood that fell on his back. The boys in this story suffered emotional distress from their friends and family. This essay will compare and contrast the movie and the book. I will discuss similarities and differences between the book and the movie.
